Band Bio

The Alabama A&M University Marching Band always brings its “A” game! Currently under the leadership of Carlton J. Wright, a 1986 Alabama A&M graduate, the “Maroon and White” has always been a source of great pride for university. Boasting approximately 230 members, the band has a rich history of excellence and accomplishments, including: Birmingham Grid Forecasters Band of the Year in 1983, 1986, 1989, 1991, 1993, 1994 and from 1996 through 1999. On New Year’s Eve 2005, the band performed at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, and on January 2, 2006, it was the lead band for the 117th Annual Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. In addition, the “Maroon and White” was chosen to perform in the prestigious Honda Battle of Bands in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2005.
