Sonic Boom of the South

Band Bio

In 1971 Jackson State University Marching Band students dubbed the band, “The Sonic Boom of the South.”  The name has remained ever since and the current band still lives up to the name. The band has performed during several NFL halftime shows, including the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, and New Orleans Saints. They’ve made television appearances for Motown’s 30th Anniversary and the 34th NAACP Image Awards.  The bands trademark is “Tiger Run- On” a fast, eye-catching shuffle that blends an adagio step with an up-tempo shuffle, then back to adagio that brings fans to their feet during each halftime performance!
